Roger Federer wins 6th Wimbledon 2009 title

How close can a match be. What a fight by Andy Roddick. But alas it was Roger Federer who won the match and it is his sixth Wimbledon and record 15th grand slam title.
Federer saved four set points in the second set and eventually triumphed 5-7 7-6 7-6 3-6 16-14 to win a sixth Wimbledon crown on Centre Court.
"It was a crazy match, an unbelievable end and my head is still spinning. This could have gone on for a few more hours I think," said Federer. "It's an unbelievable moment in my career."
Pete Sampras, who had shared the record for most grand slam titles with Federer until today, flew in from the United States overnight to watch the match from the Royal Box and Federer added: "Thanks very much for coming, I know it's a long way but you're a member, we like to see you here and it's such a pleasure to play in front of such great legends.
Federer's win also sees him regain the world number one spot, as Rafael Nadal withdrew due to injury.
A gallant Roddick paid tribute to Federer and apologised to fellow American Sampras for being unable to prevent him losing his record.
"Roger is a true champion and he deserves everything he gets," said 26-year-old Roddick, who has now lost three Wimbledon finals to Federer. "I tried, sorry Pete, I tried to hold him off.

With the death of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett people also started reporting that Hollywood had also lost Jeff Goldblum, star of USA’s Law and Order: Criminal Intent in an accident in New Zealand where he was alledgedly filming a movie. Dont worry fans, he is just safe and fine. In addition to the Goldblum hoax there was also a slightly less circulated hoax yesterday about Harrison Ford disappearing while on a boat in the French Riviera, which is also totally untrue.
Ironically enough, Jeff Goldblum and Harrison Ford will co-star in a movie together next year called “Morning Glory,” a comedy, set in New York, about a failing morning news program, which also stars Rachel McAdams and Diane Keaton.
Well there has been lot of news in Hollywood, with the loss of people who have impacted us in some way on the small screen for many years. But rest assured that Jeff Goldblum and Harrison Ford are both alive and well. People please dont start rumors like this esp. about a persons life.

Michael Jackson dead at 50

It was shocking to hear that Michael Jackson, the King of Pop who is just 50 died due to cardiac arrest in his Holmby hills home in LA. He had some breathing problem and was taken to UCLA Medical Center. His pulse rate was very low and it was tough for them to bring him back to life. I am sure his fans would be really upset about the news. A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. A source inside the hospital told there was "absolute chaos" after Jackson arrrived. People who were with the singer were screaming, "You've got to save him! You've got to save him!".
The self-styled King of Pop was due to perform 50 farewell concerts in London this summer, bowing out on an illustrious music career spanning several decades while aiming to restore his fortunes. At the time of his death, Jackson was preparing to perform 50 concerts at London’s 02 Arena.The shows, which were due to begin on July 13th, sold out within hours of going on sale. AEG Live said Jackson had passed a lengthy physical exam in early 2009, before the London concerts were announced.
Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

An American company Terrafugia Transition, based near Boston, will bring out the dual-purpose car-cum-plane vehicle called 'The Flying Car' as early as 2011. Can you imagine that, you can fly if u want to avoid the traffic down. Touch the road if u want to drive there. The vehicle will fold up its wings in 30 seconds and transform itself into a car. 'The Flying Car' can travel up to 725 kilometres in the air at a speed of more than 115 kilometres per hour. Fuelled by gasoline, it has front wheel drive on the road and a propeller for flight. With its wings folded, it can be parked in your ordinary car garage.
Its initial cost is expected to be around $200,000 (nearly Rs.1 crore), says the company which has already orders for 60 vehicles. The CEO of the company told Canadian TV (CTV) network here that they have successfully test-flown 'The Flying Car' as many as 28 times. The tests have shown that the vehicle can drive, fly and switch from being a plane to a car in just 30 seconds. 'It (testing) has been very successful,' Carl Dietrich, co-founder and CEO of Terrafugia, told the television network.

Joanna Hernandez, aka Cocktail has won Ray J, from the VH1 reality television show “For the Love of Ray J” . Monica Leon aka “Danger” was eliminated early in the last episode for her strange behavior on the previous episode after Ray J announced he would be meeting their families. Danielle Pastorino aka “Unique” made it to the end of the show, but was not chosen over Cocktail. Cocktail, who got her name on the dating competition show from being an actual part-time cocktail waitress, won the heart of Ray J for being the fun, outgoing, big-hearted and down-to-earth woman that allowed Ray J to be himself. Joanna “Cocktail” Hernandez, 26, took Ray J, on the last episode, to her family’s home in Sacramento, California where Ray J met her parents and brother which included her mother who didn’t speak a bit of English which made Ray J feel just a little bit uncomfortable as she was speaking her native tongue with her daughter “Cocktail” while he sat in the middle of the two during the conversation. Originally a social worker and a go-go dancer before coming on the show, Cocktail was also exposed, by former contestant Cashmere, for being on a prior reality TV show contestant of “The Bad Girls Club,” which Cocktail appeared on a reported six episodes of the first season where she was labeled a “golddigger.”
Well she did win his heart and the show ended with a toast by Ray J and Cocktail to their newly formed television relationship.

Craigslist killer Philip Markoff has been arrested

Boston police have arrested Philip Markoff, a 22-year-old Boston University medical student, in connection with the killing of 26-year-old Julissa Brisman at the Copley Marriott last week and an attack on a second woman at a Back Bay hotel.
Markoff has got to know about these people from Craigslist ads for personal services. The killing was connected to an April 10 attack at the nearby Westin Copley, where a prostitute who advertised on Craigslist was robbed at gunpoint and tied up. Two days after Brisman was killed, a third attack occurred at the Warwick Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Rhode Island, where another prostitute reported she had been assaulted by a man with a similar description. Warwick police are still investigating that attack. Warwick police have released four black-and-white surveillance photographs of the suspect in that case.
The woman, whom police described as a 26-year-old prostitute from Las Vegas, told investigators that a clean-cut, blond man tied her up with plastic cord. The man demanded cash and spotted a laptop computer he wanted, McCartney said. But as he began rummaging through the woman's items, her husband came into the room, and the attacker pointed a gun at him and backed out the door before fleeing.
In the first reported attack in Boston at the Westin, a woman was bound with what a witness told the Globe last week were plastic zip ties. The woman was robbed of a debit card, $800 in cash, and $250 in American Express gift cards.
On April 14, 26-year-old Julissa Brisman was shot to death at the door of her room on the 20th floor of the Marriott Copley. Brisman had also advertised massages on Craigslist, and the assailant had tried to bind her hands with plastic ties.

Snakes in Qantas flight killed

You would have seen snakes in a snake park, but not in a plane !! FOur escaped pythons have caused a Qantas plane to be grounded in Melbourne after airline staff failed to find them. The young Stimson's pythons, four of 12 in a container in the Boeing 737-800's cargo hold, apparently escaped on Tuesday during a 2½-hour flight from Alice Springs to Melbourne. Well the staff could not find them among the luggage in the hold, the aircraft was removed from service and a 4pm Melbourne-to-Sydney flight was cancelled. Qantas spokesman Joe Aston said the 12 juvenile pythons measured about 15 centimetres and were travelling in "an appropriate" container. He said it was not clear how the four had escaped.
"While (the container) was intact on departure (from Alice Springs), it was discovered on arrival that four of those animals had broken free," he said yesterday.
The passengers who were waiting for flight 446 to Sydney were put on a later flight and asked to provide an address to Qantas staff so their luggage, delayed during the search for the reptiles, could be forwarded to them.
Native to the arid and rocky parts of western and central Australia, the Stimson's python eats its prey whole — and this includes small mammals, birds, frogs and other reptiles. It grows to between 50 centimetres and one metre and is not venomous.
Stimson's pythons can climb when hunting and are often found high up on ledges of caves where they prey on small bats. They are common as pets and can live for more than 20 years.
The snakes have been killed now.

The Red Sox 2009 Opening Day game at Fenway Park has been postponed due to the forecast of heavy rain throughout the afternoon and evening. So it has been postponed now and rescheduled for Tuesday, April 7, at 4:05 p.m. Gates will open at 2:05 p.m. The forecast provided by the Red Sox weather service, Meteorlogix, indicates heavy rain, strong winds and possible thunderstorms will begin during the early afternoon hours and continue throughout the evening.
"After consulting with our weather service and other professional meteorologists, it became apparent it would be extremely unlikely, if not impossible, that we could get a complete game in today so the decision was made to postpone until Tuesday," said Larry Lucchino, President/CEO. "Our fans look forward to this unofficial Red Sox Nation holiday each year, and we want to make sure that they are able to enjoy the full experience including both the special pregame ceremonies and a full nine innings of play. We reserved an alternate rain date for tomorrow for just such adverse circumstances as present themselves today."
It marks the first Red Sox home-opening postponement since 2003, when the game was called because of rain. Dont worry about the tickets as they will be valid on Tuesday, April 7.
The Red Sox and Rays are scheduled to play the second game of the series on Wednesday at 7:10 pm at Fenway Park. The Red Sox Foundation Welcome Home Dinner Presented By Covidien will take place as scheduled at the House of Blues Boston. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6:00 p.m.

Tata Nano has finally been announced at two elaborate media events in India. “We have made a promise and we have kept that promise,” Ratan Tata, chairman of the Tata Group, said during the first press gathering, held in the Taj Hotel.
The Nano has been nicknamed “The People’s Car” because its starting price will make it accessible to more Indians than any other new car on the market. But the ultra-cheap, ultra-compact Nano comes with no frills. It runs on a 623-cc 2-cylinder engine with about 30 horsepower. Power steering and power brakes are optional on the base model. Airbags, antilock brakes and even a radio aren’t available at all.
Tata Nano will come as Standard Variant BS II, Nano CX and Nano LX. The standard variant will sport a price tag of Rs. 1 lakh for the first 1 lakh cars produced. The transportation cost, insurance, road tax and other charges will be charged extra. Thus the on-road price for the base variant is expected Rs. 1.23 lakh and above depending upon the city. The Nano Delhi price for the base variant is Rs. 1,23,560. The Nano CX variant is priced at Rs. 1.48 lakh and the LX variant will cost Rs. 1,70,335.
The first models arrive in dealer showrooms in early April. Application forms to register to buy the car will be accepted from April 9-25. And for the first time in company history, Tata Motors will charge a fee (about $6) to anyone who applies to buy the car.
First deliveries of the Nano to customers will occur in July. This news comes after what has already been more than six months of production delays. Political protests over the company’s land acquisition methods forced Tata to abandon a nearly complete factory built for Nano production in the state of West Bengal. Rather than risk provoking the situation, Tata decided to base Nano production elsewhere.
One uncomfortable aspect of the Nano’s cost-cutting regime — and an exceedingly awkward moment during a Q & A session held during the early press event — was the importance of India’s cheap labor. An executive huddle followed a journalist’s query, which lead to another mad scramble among hundreds of photographers eager to capture the situation. Ravi Kant, managing director of Tata Motors, finally stated that the yearly salary of a Nano factory worker is 150,000 rupees – or less than $3,000.

It was a tought decision and many fans are disappointed, but atleast there is IPL match going to be held. South Africa will host the Indian Premier League this year - relocated because of security concerns after the Sri Lankan team was attacked. The Twenty20 event, which features some of the world's top players in eight teams, has been pushed back by more than a week and will now start on April 18. IPL chairman Lalit Modi and Cricket South Africa chief executive Gerald Majola finalised arrangements during talks in Johannesburg.
"We are very happy to confirm that South Africa will host the 2009 DLF Indian Premier League tournament," Mr Modi said after the meeting.
Mr Majola added: "This is a great compliment to both CSA and our nation to be shown this confidence in our ability to hold one of the world's top sporting events at short notice."
England also was another choice but due to security reasons they have chosen South Africa. It had originally been scheduled to run from April 10 to May 24, which would have clashed with general elections in India between April 16 and May 13.
The weather, TV timings and cheaper costs of hosting the competition are thought to have made South Africa a more attractive option than Britain.
TV rights are also more straightforward in South Africa since Supersport holds the rights to both the IPL and international cricket in the country.
Venues in South Africa will also be free as the domestic cricket season ends on April 9. So cricket fans wait for this IPL 2009.

Sri Lankan cricket team attacked by gunmen in Lahore, Pakistan

A dozen of heavily armed gunmen today attacked the Sri Lankan cricket team and their police escort in Lahore, Pakistan, injuring up to six of the visiting players and killing five policemen. They attacked with heavy weapons, spraying the Sri Lankan team bus with bullets as it drove to the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore. Several players and one Briton in the convoy of vehicles were reported to have received "superficial" injuries. A Sri Lankan foreign ministry official said two players, Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paranavitana, had been taken to hospital. He said three more players were slightly injured and the head coach, Australian Trevor Bayliss, sustained minor injuries. Television footage showed glimpses of the assailants running through the streets with machine guns in their hands and rucksacks on their backs. The attack happened in Gulberg, an upmarket area of the city, at around 9am local time. All the gunmen remain at large after retreating into a nearby commercial and shopping area. Habibur Rehman, the police chief of Lahore, said there were around 12 gunmen, at least some of whom arrived in auto-rickshaws.
The vehicle carrying the umpires Simon Taufel and Steve Davis and match official Chris Broad, the father of England bowler Stuart, was also attacked. A rocket launcher and grenades were recovered from the scene. The Sri Lankan cricketers, who were playing a Test match against Pakistan in the city, are to be evacuated by military helicopter from the area immediately.
"This was a planned terrorist attack. They had heavy weapons," said Salman Taseer, who heads the provincial government as the governor of Punjab. "These were the same methods and the same sort of people as hit Mumbai."
IS this the end of Pakistan cricket ?? Cricket teams had stopped visiting Pakistan due to the country's deteriorating security situation, with an international tournament cancelled last year.
Squad member Kumar Sangakkara told the Sri Lankan radio station Yes-FM that "all the players are completely out of danger". "Luckily there's nothing serious and everyone is fine."
The second Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan has been called off, according to a Sri Lankan cricket board official. "We are trying to bring the team back as quickly as possible. The test match has been cancelled," he told Reuters.
The former England all-rounder Dominic Cork who was in the stadium to do commentary work for Pakistan TV, told Sky Sports News: "The Sri Lankan players are quite shocked. They all fell to the floor of the team bus when the attack happened.
Nadeem Ghauri, a Pakistani umpire who witnessed the attack, said the umpires were behind the bus carrying Sri Lanka's players when they suddenly heard gunshots.
"The firing continued for 15 minutes," he said. "Our driver was hit, and he was injured." The driver of one of the vehicles in the convoy told Pakistan's Express news channel that he saw a man firing a rocket towards their van. Someone then threw a grenade, but the weapons missed the vehicle.

Jerry Lewis accepted a humanitarian award during Sunday night's Oscars ceremony in a presentation that honored both his philanthropy and his comedic acting. He thanked the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which presented him its Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. The award was presented to the 82-year-old actor by Eddie Murphy, who starred in a remake of one of Lewis' signature roles, "The Nutty Professor." Lewis is perhaps now best-known for his annual telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association as an advocate of "Jerry's Kids." Holding his hand over his heart, Lewis softly said, "Thank you" after Murphy handed him his Oscar statuette.
"For most of my life I thought that doing good for someone didn't mean you would receive commendation for that act of kindness," Lewis said. "At least until now.
"This award touches my heart and the very depth of my soul because of who the award is from, and those who will benefit."
The award is named after Hersholt, a Danish actor who co-founded the Motion Picture Relief Fund and served as an Academy president. The relief fund was established to help care for movie industry employees who couldn't pay for their own care.
Lewis' award was not without controversy: A small group of protesters that an organizer estimated to be about 50 strong protested outside the Academy Awards, saying Lewis' telethon is outdated and he forces people to pity those with muscular dystrophy.

Well it seems Joanna Pacitti was "ineligible to continue." in American Idol season 8.No reason was given by Fox TV when they announced. But a person familiar with the decision said Thursday that Pacitti was dropped to avoid any appearance of business impropriety. Felicia Barton of Virginia Beach, Va., replaced Pacitti, a Philadelphia native, in the top 36. The show announced the semifinalists Wednesday night, then later released an update saying it had cut Pacitti loose and subbed in Barton, a 26-year-old married mom. Pacitti has not commented yet. Pacitti, who auditioned in Louisville, Ky., entered "Idol" with a show-biz resume. She had a record deal with Geffen and released an album in 2006. Billboard reports it sold more than 16,000 copies. "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi recognized Pacitti when she auditioned in Louisville, Ky. She also starred in "Annie" on Broadway as a young girl, and sang on the soundtracks for the movies "Legally Blonde" and "Bratz." Britney Spears' tune "Out From Under," from her latest album, was first performed by Pacitti on the "Bratz" soundtrack.

A text message had started Chris Brown Rihanna fight !!

The fight that landed Barbados-born Rihanna in hospital reportedly started with an SMS, it seems. The fight became big when Singer Chris Brown had got a text message from another woman. When Rihanna saw the message she got angry. So they started to argue and that is when she got out of the car. Brown wanted her to be in and so grabbed her hand. She pulled away. That is when she told people he hit her.
Brown had allegedly pulled his silver Lamborghini to the side of a street in the Hancock Park neighbourhood of Los Angeles, near Rihanna's home. Police responded to an emergency 911 call and they had found Rihanna in the car with a bloody nose, split lip and bite marks. She was treated at a hospital for her injuries.
Chris Brown is now currently on US $50,000 bail. Rihanna has cancelled her Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta concerts. Gum maker Wrigley has suspended ad campaigns featuring Chris Brown and radio stations are also pulling his music off the air. My god how much effect does a small fight make to these celebrities.

Chris Brown has been charged with felony battery after an alleged violent incident on Saturday night. The police were investigating Brown for assault following an alleged domestic violence felony battery against a woman reported to be the singer's girlfriend, Rihanna , at 12:30 AM on Sunday in Los Angeles. Both Brown and Rihanna pulled out of Sunday evening's Grammy Awards before the ceremony. The woman suffered visible injuries and she identified Chris Brown as the attacker.
According to his booking sheet, Brown was being held on a $50,000 bail under a felony charge. He has since been released. According to the Los Angeles Times, the victim of the alleged assault was Rihanna but the LAPD would not confirm that report.
"At the time the case is presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, additional charges may be filed. It will be up the LA County DA to review the case and determine which charge or charges will be most appropriate," the LAPD noted.
Brown did not win in either category for which he was nominated in the Grammy's: pop collaboration with vocals for "No Air" and male R&B vocal performance for "Take You Down."

Pittsburgh Steelers win Super bowl 43 2009 !!

Well anyone could win the Super bowl 43, but it was Pittsburgh Steelers who won for the sixth time. Arizona Cardinals were impressive as they had many wins in the post season. It was pretty even through the first half, well until James Harrison’s 100 yard interception return with no time left on the clock in the first half gave the Steelers a huge momentum swing going into halftime. Then it went on and in the fourth quarter Warner hit All-Pro receiver Larry Fitzgerald in stride for a 64-yard touchdown.Fitzgerald sped down the middle of the field, watching himself outrun the Steelers. Kurt Warner and the Cardinals staged a remarkable rally to go in front 23-20 with 2:37 remaining. But the touch down by Santonio Holmes was great when they had just 40 seconds or so. That was such a great win for the Steelers. Both feet in, both feet down and in control of the ball. That was only needed for the Steelers and they did it. Cardinals just dint have it in their books I guess. Cardinals really messed up with 11 penalties for 106 yards. Even though Kurt Warner out performed Ben Roethlisberger, it wasn’t in the cards for him nor the Cardinals to have a Superbowl victory. The Cardinals haven’t had a Superbowl victory in 62 years.

Michael Phelps apologizes for Bong Picture !!

The Olympic swimming star Michael Phelps quickly acknowledged his poor judgment after a photograph showing him inhaling from a marijuana pipe was published Sunday in a British newspaper. Well it may not affect his swimming eligibility, but it could affect the millions of dollars he has secured in endorsement deals.
“I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment,” Phelps said. “I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”
Phelps was honored as the Associated Press male athlete of the year in 2008 for his performance in Beijing, where he broke Mark Spitz’s 36-year-old record for most gold medals in an Olympics. Is he spoiling his name ??
In a statement, the United States Olympic Committee said it was “disappointed in the behavior recently exhibited by Michael Phelps,” describing him as a role model who was “well aware of the responsibilities and accountability that come with setting a positive example for others, particularly young people.”
The News of the World said the photograph was taken in November, during a house party Phelps attended while visiting the University of South Carolina on the weekend of Nov. 8. While there, he attended the Gamecocks’ football game against Arkansas and received a rousing ovation when he was introduced. The newspaper did not say that Phelps was smoking marijuana, but it pointed out that the pipe typically was used for that purpose. At the time, Phelps was in the middle of a four-month break from swimming. He resumed swimming this month in Baltimore, his hometown, with an eye toward the 2012 Olympics.

Oscar winner and "American Idol" vet Jennifer Hudson gave an amazing performance of the national anthem before the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 1). She gave a very confident and powerful performance. She was wearing a dark blue military style jacket, long white top and black leggings.
Before Hudson took the stage, Faith Hill performed "America the Beautiful" accompanied by a gospel choir. Stretching the tempo out to give the song a more soulful, gospel feel, the country star wowed the crowd as the choir rose to crescendo behind her. With this the crew of the US Airways flight 1549, which made a safe emergency landing in New York's Hudson River last month, came out for a moment in the spotlight.
Jennifer's comeback will continue February 8 with a performance at the Grammy Awards. She is nominated for four awards for her self-titled debut CD. She is also set to perform on February 6 at the Recording Academy's MusiCares Person of the Year gala honoring Neil Diamond.
Last week, Jennifer concluded filming the video for "If This Isn't Love," the second single from her album. The video will be released February 9.

Barack Obama retakes oath of office !!

Has it ever happened before ?? US President Barack Obama retook the oath of office from Chief Justice John Roberts after stumbling when he originally swore-in to become the 44th US president on Tuesday. The president retook the oath in the Map Room of the White House one day after his inauguration at the US Capitol. But why did he take it again ?? Roberts had slightly scrambled some words while administering the oath at Tuesday's inauguration so Obama did not say the oath, word for word, as it's laid out in the U.S. Constitution. So by Wednesday afternoon, legitimate constitutional scholars were saying Obama ought to retake the oath, just to make sure he was really president. Obama and Roberts went through the drill again out of what White House counsel Greg Craig called “an abundance of caution.” This time, the scene was the White House Map Room in front of a small group of reporters, not the Capitol.
"Are you ready to take the oath?" Roberts asked him.
"I am, and we're going to do it very slowly," Obama said, reciting the oath flawlessly and taking 25 seconds.
Obama was first sworn in by Roberts on Tuesday, resting his left hand on Abraham Lincoln's Bible and raising his right hand to deliver the words that formally made him the successor to former president George W. Bush.
This is how it was on Tuesday amidst two million people - Obama said: "I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear that I will execute the office of president of the United States faithfully, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the constitution of the United States. "So help me God."
As specified in the US Constitution, the word "faithfully" precedes the phrase "execute the office," but the chief justice, in his first presidential inauguration, read that part of the oath incorrectly. Obama paused, apparently realizing something was wrong, and after an awkward moment, Roberts repeated himself, but the chief justice stumbled again. Obama eventually recited the line as Roberts originally said it.
But know that he officially became the President on Jan 20th Tuesday. Now lets see what happens to the world and to the US with Barack Obama as the 44th President.

Murder case reported in Virginia tech campus !!

Remember the incident that happened before in Virginia Tech in 2007. Well there was a fatal stabbing on Virginia Tech campus today that triggered a crisis alert system.
Students were warned at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday to stay in place in an alert sent by e-mail and text message. After a suspect was taken into custody, students were told about an hour later they could resume normal activity.The killing took place at the Graduate Life Center. University spokesman Mark Owczarski tells the Richmond Times-Distpatch that the suspect is male and that police found a knife they believe was the murder weapon. At 8:37 p.m. the school's Web site confirmed that someone was in custody and urged students to avoid the area but otherwise resume normal activity.
The Roanoke Times reported Wednesday night that the victim was a woman and knew her attacker, a graduate student who lives off campus. The Times story stated that the attack happened in an Au Bon Pain coffee shop in the Graduate Life Center. Both students are Asian, the newspaper reported.
The Graduate Life Center at the intersection of Otey Street and College Avenue opened for the 2005-06 school year in the former Donaldson Brown hotel as Tech's first-ever graduate student housing area, according to the Roanoke Times. It houses more than 100 students, the newspaper reported.

Barack Obama takes oath of office to be 44th President in the US Capitol !!

Barack Hussein Obama became the 44th president of the United States on Jan 2oth 2009. A day that all of us were waiting to know for few months. He was all smiles and it was just so wonderful to see him take the oath of office.“We must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin again the work of remaking America,” Obama, 47, said in his 19- minute inaugural address. Meeting the challenges ahead requires “a new era of responsibility,” he said.
Obama, the first black to assume the nation’s highest elected office, took the oath on the same Bible used for the 1861 inauguration of Abraham Lincoln, the president who led the U.S. through the Civil War and freed the slaves. Around 2 million or so people witnessed the event and they were just filled with joy.
“This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed, why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across the magnificent Mall, and why a man whose father less than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath,” Obama said.
The U.S. lost 2.6 million jobs last year, the most in any year since 1945. Stocks fell today drastically and became the the worst Inauguration Day drop in the history of the index.
“The challenges we face are real,” said Obama, who will meet with his economic team tomorrow. “They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America -- they will be met,” he said, to roars from the crowd. Obama asked Americans to “set aside childish things” like partisanship and ideology, and adopt a spirit of service.
“For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies,” he said.
Obama will also be taking on responsibility for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He devoted a significant portion of his address to foreign affairs, pledging to renew efforts to fight foes, work with friends and help the world’s poor.
Obama vowed to stand firm against terrorism, saying: “For those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken. You cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.”
Joseph Biden was sworn in as vice president minutes before Obama took the oath. After the ceremonies ended, Bush boarded a Marine helicopter to Andrews Air Force Base. He’s taking a government plane to Texas, where he has a ranch in Crawford and a home in Dallas.
Obama attended a luncheon with lawmakers in the Capitol. The mood changed quickly from celebration to concern when Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, an early Obama backer, suffered a seizure. He was taken from the Capitol by medical personnel. “My prayers are with him and his family,” Obama said later. A hospital spokeswoman said the senator was awake and answering questions.
Obama, Biden and their wives then led a parade back to the White House. Barack and Michelle Obama twice got out of their armored limousine to walk for a few blocks along the way, waving to screaming crowds. Tonight, 10 official balls are on the schedule.

Venkatesh Roddam being considered for CEO of Satyam !!

Vivel Paul as the next CEO is still doing the rounds at Satyam Computer Services,but insiders say the government is considering a person who was an integral part of the company till three months ago, Venkatesh Roddam. He was the former CEO of Satyam's BPO subsidiary Nipuna and is seriously considered for the position since Paul is not keen to return to India.
The search for a CEO is going on because the founder Ramalinga Raju has been held for disclosures of financial fraud.
Roddam, who is taking a break from corporate life and lives in Hyderabad, said: "I'm not too sure what is happening. I am getting calls from close friends and relatives who are asking me about this." Rodddam has not told anything directly and is not saying about denial also."It is a fantastic company to work with. It's an interesting and challenging role. They have a competent board now, to provide all kinds of support," said Roddam who worked for Nipuna for about three years. Roddam is an MBA and has spent 18 of his 21-year professional career in financial services and banking in India and overseas. Before joining Nipuna as CEO, Roddam worked with Deutsche Bank for almost nine years based in Frankfurt. Roddam resigned from Nipuna towards the end of September last year when several other senior executives, including Satyam's chief strategy officer Shailesh Shah, also resigned.

Cafe 36 episode in Chef Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares !!

Cafe 36 is in La Grange, IL.It's a fancy French Bistro run by husband and wife Terry Gilmore and Carol. He bought the upscale French/American Bistro two years ago.Well mainly it lacks people and quality control. They have been losing money and so they would be in a bad stage soon. Now what can Chef Ramsay do to make it survive.
No crowd, the head chef can’t cook, the sous chef has more attitude than work ethic.
The decor does not match anywhere. A fine dining restaurant,it supposedly is totally falls on Pinto, the head chef. The servers think he’s a dirty, sloppy chef as he constantly digs his fingers into the food, and he can’t run the kitchen, either. But Pinto thinks he is good though people complain. Terry hasn’t received a single paycheck since he opened the restaurant!
Terry is excited about Ramsay's visit. Ramsay orders a few meals, including a duck and strawberry dish. He waits and it takes a long time. Pinto thinks the food is good but Ramsay does not like the combination itself first and thinks the risotto is mush and is very salty. The salmon crepe looks terrible, with pan scrapings instead of a filet. Ramsay is shocked that the crepes are store bought. He heads back to the kitchen to quiz the chef. Pinto claims that he lived in Italy, and Ramsay is amazed that he can’t even cook a decent risotto. He finds out the dish was cooked 7 days before it was served. Pinto, apparently, makes it a habit to serve week old food. Oh m god, that is very bad !! Terry dint know about this old food thing and is embarrassed. So it really is a nightmare now !!
Gordon decides to investigate the freezer before the dinner service. It’s a mess.
There are a few customers, and Ramsay wants to see how they prepare the food. He freezes everything, even the butter! Pinto prepares and prepares. He takes a very long time and the waiters hate serving on the carts. Now the customers hate the food when it finally shows up, and an order comes back to be cooked more. The customers complain about overcooked chicken, disgusting salad dressing, and several start to leave without even eating because they are tired of waiting. Now Ramsay thinks Pinto has to go. He is just not fit to be the chef and everyone agrees.
Ramsay tackles the cooking problems first, and shows chefs Barney and Pinto how to make a simple mushroom risotto. The next change is ditching the carts. The servers get to carry the plates by hand! Ramsay is going to help out the kitchen by teaching the servers to make a tableside goat cheese salad. He wants Terry to be firm.
The customers are loving the tableside salad, but the appetizers aren’t getting out to the customers. Pinto and Brian dont get along well.
Slow service, inconsistent food, and a dated restaurant is what Ramsay finds. He promises to have a plan and new decor by the morning. The restaurant is sparkling, with a fresh black and white design. The designers made sure all of the place settings match, and the booths are upholstered.Ramsay unveils a new, fresh and simpler menu. It’s full of seasonal dishes. He tells the servers to taste one of everything before each service so they know what they are serving. There’s onion soup, crab cakes, duck confit, and lots of classic dishes.
The service starts well, but an hour later there is confusion and Pinto does not talk to anyone. Ramsay us angry, customers are leaving, Brian still wants Pinto fired, Terry’s trying to placate the customers, and Ramsay is trying to get Terry to get things moving. Terry heads to the kitchen to expedite and food starts getting served. The kitchen finally gets its act together, and Ramsay pays the owners a lot of compromise. He thinks their relationship is perfect and beautiful. The Gilmores give Ramsay a bottle of 30 year old wine, and Ramsay asks them to keep it at the restaurant for when Ramsay returns to see their successful, thriving business.
There’s a footnote- Pinto left the very next night and now Barney’s in charge of the kitchen. So lets see what happens after few days !!

So he has spent a long time in the White House. Now chance for the next elected President to step into. That would be Barack Obama. I am sure every one is eager to know what he is upto. It is now time for George Bush to bid adieu to everyone. He used his farewell address on Thursday to stress that the nation has not suffered a major terrorist attack since Sept. 11, 2001. He says that the threat remains and that it would all be Barack Obama's biggest challenge.
Bush, who listed the Iraq war as one of his efforts to combat terrorism, said he understands disagreement with some "tough decisions" he made, "but I hope you can agree that I was willing to make the tough decisions."
There were about 200 guests in the East Room and Bush extended best wishes to Barack Obama and his family. The election of the nation's first African-American president, he said, "reflects the enduring promise of our land" and is "a moment of hope and pride for our whole nation."
The two-term president acknowledged experiencing setbacks but also listed accomplishments, including creation of a Department of Homeland Security, new counterterrorism surveillance laws, the No Child Left Behind education bill, prescription drug assistance, and adding conservative justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court.

It was a big event and the Hollywood’s hottest stars arrived at the Golden Globes red carpet and tried to show off their best . The best and the worst dressed was tough to pick as they were all trying to look good.
Pale pink colored dresses were a popular pick and favored by stars of all ages including Vanessa Hudgens, Elizabeth Banks, Penelope Cruz, and Demi Moore. While Demi looked lovely in a Dior silk chiffon style, Penelope was the heart stopper in strapless Armani Prive with Swarovski crystal detail.

Those in light mild colors were the bridal wannabees in different variations of white like Salma Hayek, Kate Beckinsale, Sandra Bullock, Miley Cyrus and Eva Mendes. While there were few flaws in this snow-white group, Miley once again looked way too mature in Marchesa. Her mom who wore something short and sparkly and more appropriate for Miley so may be they should have switched. On the other hand, Eva won the award for white in a Dior silk taffeta gown and gorgeous turquoise and diamond necklace from Van Cleef and Arpels.
Some stars did choose color in lieu of neutrals including Kyra Sedgwick in strapless Oscar de la Renta and Eva Longoria Parker in drop-dead-red Reem Acra. The "Desperate Housewives" star showed off her hour glass figure like no other. Cameron Diaz was looking young and modern in a one shouldered style from Chanel Haute Couture.
Unfortunately, Beyonce’s Elie Saab number looked liked many choices from the past and her necklace was way too much for the beaded style. Jennifer Lopez also overdid it in gold Marchesa. Angelina Jolie finally did not disappoint in stunning and simple Atelier Versace.
Kate Winslet was certainly on cloud nine after winning not one but two awards and looking gorgeous, elegant, and classic in black, strapless Yves St. Laurent.
Amy Adams also in black strapless but with a full ballroom skirt looked like a fairy tale princess in Oscar de la Renta.
"House" star, Olivia Wilde in a lavender belted Reem Acra ruffled gown was gorgeous.
While Drew Barrymore’s ice blue Dior Haute Couture dress was pretty, her teased bouffant looked silly.
Maggie Gyllenhaal looked overwhelmed in her printed Lanvin one shouldered style while Anne Hathaway looked basic and boring in Armani Prive.
America Ferrera’s short silver dress did nothing for her figure while Blake Lively’s style was way too tight. The least favorite this year was Renee Zellweger who, in Carolina Herrera (as always), looked ridiculous. The dress resembled a project from a fashion 101 class, and her hair looked prom-like at best.

Bob won the Survivor in Gabon and takes home a million !!

It has been such a great show "Survivor" in Gabon. Dirt, thirst, hunger and what not did they face to get 1 million dollars. Well for 39 days they struggled and now bow-tied schoolteacher Bob Crowley beat "Survivor" rivals Sugar and Susie to emerge as Sole Survivor in the finale. At age 57 the oldest winner in "Survivor" history, Crowley will take his $1 million prize back home to Portland, Maine. Bearded, wiry and very intelligent, he teaches high school physics in nearby Gorham. "My plan was to fly under the radar as long as I could ... and be a nice guy, so that people would like me," he said on a post game show. He really was liked by all and that was a key thing for his success. Runners-up were Susie Smith, the gabby 47-year-old hairdresser-homemaker from Charles City, Iowa, and 29-year-old Jessica "Sugar" Kiper, the blond pinup model from Brooklyn.The winner was chosen by a seven-member jury of previously expelled contestants, to whom the three finalists appealed during their all-important last tribal council. In that important vote, Bob edged with 4 votes to Susie's 3 votes where Sugar had none. This, the 17th edition of the CBS strategy-endurance game, set in the West African nation of Gabon, where 18 of them started the season.

Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe accidentally had exposed himself to the camera in their locker room. So the picture and videos have been going all over the internet. A Fox camera crew went into the Vikings’ locker room to show owner Zygi Wilf presenting the ball to coach Brad Childress Sunday. Whether fortunate or unfortunate, Visanthe Shiancoe happened to be standing behind him and that the towel he wore was not good enough and that it had slipped.
Fox has issued an apology, calling the shot an “obvious oversight.” The Vikings have yet to issue a comment of their own. When he came to know about it, he was really not bothered. It seems he asked a female journalist about it. lol. But cmon I think this is not an issue to be really made sooo public with pics and videos. People are so jobless I think cutting and doing all sorts of things to videos. It's just what happened in the locker room. That is all !!

O J Simpson to know about his sentencing today !!

Simpson's case has been going for a long time . Now all know that O.J. Simpson is going to prison, but dunno for how long. The former football star who walked away a free man after a celebrated murder trial was due to learn Friday how much time he'll spend in a Nevada state prison for a botched attempt to recover sports mementoes and personal items from two collectibles peddlers. Neither Simpson, who was acquitted of the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife and her friend in Los Angeles, nor his co-defendant and former golfing buddy, Clarence "C.J. Stewart, testified at trial. They were convicted Oct. 3 of 12 criminal charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery, and face mandatory prison time _ a minimum of six years and up to life.
Simpson attorney Yale Galanter has said his client won't address the court. Stewart will, said his lawyer, Brent Bryson. "Best-case scenario we're hoping for is six years. That's the bottom-end number before being eligible for parole," Bryson said.
District Attorney David Roger is not expected to call witnesses, spokesman Dan Kulin said.
Simpson lawyer Gabriel Grasso said Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass would likely keep the proceedings short. She wants to hear from the lawyers and she wants to hear from the defendants. That's about it," Grasso said.
"Notwithstanding the jury verdict, Simpson continues to maintain his innocence," Grasso said in a brief seeking his client's release.
Jurors who heard 13 days of testimony said after the verdict that they were convinced of Simpson's guilt because of audio recordings middleman Thomas Riccio secretly made of the Sept. 13, 2007, Palace Station casino hotel confrontation with sports memorabilia brokers Alfred Beardsley and Bruce Fromong.

Chhagan Bhujbal is the new Deputy Chief Minister !!

After the Mumbai attack, all these ministers have been resigning. SO there is more change in the whole administration of India and Mumbai. Maharashtra Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar today announced the name of Chhagan Bhujbal as the next Deputy Chief Minister of the state. Bhujbal, besides taking charge of Deputy CM’s post will have an additional responsibility of Home Ministry.
His appointment comes five days after R R Patil resigned as Deputy Chief Minister, owning moral responsibility for last week’s terror attacks in Mumbai, which left around 200 people dead. Bhujbal currently holds the Public Works Department portfolio and is widely known in political circles as being a tough task master.
Still the post of Chief Minister for Maharashtra is to be decided and Ashok Chavan apparently has an edge over Narayan Rane in the leadership tussle.
Senior Congress leaders Pranab Mukherjee and A K Antony had a meeting with Gandhi this morning and indicated that there could be a decision in the evening.

Alex Widmer, CEO of Julius Baer dies !!

Swiss bank Julius Baer has announced today that Alex Widmer, its chief executive officer CEO, died unexpectedly overnight on Wednesday at the age of 52. Mr Widmer will be succeeded by Hans de Gier, who served as the CEO of Julius Baer Group until Sept 2008 when he stepped down to focus on his role of Chairman of hedge fund unit GAM.
“We have lost a dear friend, a good colleague and a charismatic leader. Our thoughts are with his three children. We will all miss him greatly,” said Raymond Baer, chairman, in a statement.
“Alex very successfully opened up new dimensions for the Private Banking business of Julius Baer. His enormous commitment, his active relationship and close involvement with the clients and his passion for banking will forever serve as a model for us,” Mr Baer said.
Mr Widmer joined the Julius Baer Group in 2005 as a member of the executive board and head of private banking and became the CEO of Bank Julius Baer in November 2007.

Firing in Hyderabad in Santhosh Nagar !!

Well still there is some gun shooting goin on in India. In hyderabad, 2 policemen were injured when an associate of a terror suspect opened fire on them at busy Santosh Nagar in the old city. Followers of Vicaruddin, a former SIMI activist Waqar Ahmed, an accused in the Mecca Masjid blast case, fired three rounds with a country-made revolver when policemen went to their hideout to nab him, city Commissioner of Police B Prasada Rao told reporters at the spot.
Then a three-member police team went to Santosh Nagar, a communally-sensitive area, to arrest Vicaruddin, who was not seen for a year. On seeing the policemen, one of the associates of Vicaruddin opened fire near a telephone booth, injuring Head Constables Rama Raju and Jaffar. Both were rushed to a nearby super-specialty hospital and the condition of Rama Raju is serious.
Vicaruddin, who fled the scene after the incident, was a member of Darsgah Jihad-e-Shahadat (DJS), a local fringe outfit with suspected terror links.

Well the Olympic's gold medalist has reportedly invited his girlfriend Caroline "Caz" Pal,26 home for a Thanksgiving with his family in Baltimore. For two months, Phelps has been dating this Las vegas cocktail waitress who works at the Palms Casino Resort's Moon Nightclub. They met after his record-setting performance in Beijing last summer. Phelps' met his gal Pal during one of his frequent visits to Sin City, where he is working on his poker game. Not just having gold medals alone, Phelps is hoping for a chance to amass chips in the 2009 World Series of Poker. He has been doing pretty well. In October, he made it to the finals of the Caesars Palace Poker Classic. "It was fun!" he told People magazine after the tourney.

The Mumbai attack had left many people alive,injured or deceased. Ashok Kapur, non-executive chairman of Yes Bank, has died at the Oberoi Trident, the five-star hotel at Nariman Point. More than 100 hostages were freed today from the Oberoi-Trident complex. Usually many businessmen and top officials visit that hotel. Same way Kapur and his wife had gone to the Oberoi Trident for dinner on Wednesday. A well-known banker, he had started his career in 1962. He spent a large part of his career with ANZ Grindlays and was later responsible for the Asia-Pacific operations of ABN Amro before he teamed up with his brother-in-law Rana Kapoor to establish the private sector Yes Bank. Ashok Kapur had an 11.8 per cent stake in Yes Bank which chalked up a total income of Rs 1,665 crore and net profit of Rs 200 crore in the year ended March 31. It had advances of Rs 9,430 crore and deposits of Rs 13,273 crore.
Uma Garg (46), wife of Ispat director Vinod Garg, was another hostage who did not make it alive out of the Trident. She had gone to the Kandahar — one of the restaurants at the hotel — for dinner along with her husband. “She was separated from her husband and taken to the 13th floor where she was butchered along with other people,” said an Ispat senior executive. Vinod Garg managed to escape from the site of terror on Wednesday night.
Sevantibhai Parekh’s son Sunil Parekh and Reshma Parekh had visited Tiffin, Oberoi Trident’s popular restaurant, for dinner that evening. The couple who were a part of a joint family never stayed out late and hence the family members were beginning to get skeptical when they saw the news about gunmen taking the hotel by storm. “The whole family sat watching the television, absolutely glued to it,” said Sunil’s sister-in-law. The Parekhs lived down the road, on Marine Drive, and would frequent the restaurant. Some family members had decided to wait at Marine Drive hoping for a breakthrough. While families and friends of the hostages stood around, the Parekhs’ cousins and a few others got together and made a list of their loved ones who were inside either of the hotels, so as to ask officials for further information. However the Parekh family received a severe blow on Friday when they found the names of Sunil and Reshma on the list of the deceased. “They have two school-going daughters and we worry about what fate awaits them,” said the Parekhs’ relatives. Parekh ran a pharmaceuticals business.
Several foreign executives and businessmen from different nationalities were also among those who lost their lives in the terror attacks at the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers and the Trident.
International news reports said Hisashi Truda (38), a section chief at Mitsui Marubeni Liquefied Gas Company, was shot dead. Greek businessman Andreas Liveras (73), who sold yachts, was also killed. Two Australian businessmen — Brett Taylor and Doug Markell who were a part of an international delegation — lost their lives.

Hemant Karkare, Sandeep Unnikrishnan and top officers funerals held !!

there were many top officials who gave their lives in this 26/11 Mumbai attack which has nearly killed 200 people. The funeral of the brave martyr and former Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare happened today and he has been cremated. Many of them saw the funeral procession and shouted slogans and there was heavy security. There were so many people who had attended the funeral including Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Dy. CM RR Patil, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray, top police officers DGP AN Roy from Mumbai, politicians and other relatives and friends. All of them paid homage to martyr Hemant Karkare. He was a great man in Mumbai, so well known and so good in his work. Though he had received many death threats and calls he never bothered and always was brave. He was killed along with DIG Ashok Kamte and ATS Officer Vijay Salaskar. He received three bullets in his chest and that became and end to his duties and help for the country. He wore a bullet proof, but guess they cornered him fired continuously. There was also some reports saying the terrorists knew he would come.
DIG Ashok Kamte and ATS Officer Vijay Salaskar were cremated yesterday.
Meanwhile, Hemant Karkare's wife Kavita Karkare is refusing to receive any amount from the Rs. 1 crore reward announced by Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and that is also big news. Well now we just pray for the soul to rest in peace !! 'Vande Mataram'

Another brave soldier who gave his life for the country is Sandeep Unnikrishnan from Banglore. The 31-year-old was leading a team of NSG commandos in the Taj operation on Friday. During the operation one of the NSG man was shot and Sandeep turned back to help him. Then when he saw the terrorist who were moving to another floor in the Taj mahal Hotel he followed them after arranging for his evacuation. He now became a single person fighting with the militants and this gave way to more gun hots on him.
Seriously hurt, he succumbed to his injuries. Sandeep's body, wrapped in the tricolour was laid before a framed photograph of the hero and friends, leaders, colleagues, family members and others, did the last rights for him. He was known to be a brave soldier who had served in Jammu and kashmir and got trained. The family members knew it was a dangerous job but did not know they would lose him.

Journalist Sabina Sehgal Saikia who was trapped in Taj is dead !!

Sabina Sehgal Saikia, a senior journalist with the Times of India who was trapped on the sixth floor of the Taj Hotel was not to be seen at all. They were waiting everytime hostages and guests were released from the taj. But now the ordeal is over and still she is missing. Her body was among the 100 recovered on Saturday,that is today, almost 60 hours after the Mumbai massacre began. Sabina is the only known journalist-casualty so far. She is a consulting editor with the TOI and a noted food critic and had been SMSing her family and friends till past Wednesday midnight, after which they lost contact with her. A massive fire had gutted major portions of the floor she was in. Till late Friday night, her husband Shantanu Saikia, who is also a journalist, was "hoping against hope" that she would be found alive. Sabina leaves behind her husband and two children - a daughter aged 14 and son aged 11.
She had texted her husband for the last time at 2 a.m. Thursday to say she was trapped inside a bathroom. Seriously god only knows why he sent her there. Do we call this fate ?? She had gone there for a happy occassion to attend a wedding when terrorists stormed the hotel, firing at guests and holding several hostage.
Sabina had been associated with The Times of India for 19 years and had authored “The Times Good Eating Guide, a comprehensive evaluation of 600 restaurants in the City.”
So now we have lost a great journalist.. May her soul rest in peace !!

Azam Amir kasav militant captured gives details about Mumbai attack !!

Well 26/11 Mumbai massacre was deadly and a long attack. The terrorists just did not get tired of shooting and throwing grenades. They were active even if they were working for 40-50 hours. This really showed how strong they were, how trained and how determined. One militant who has been arrested and who is the only source to know how they came, who is behind it and answers to all questions is Azam Amir Kasav,21 from tehsil Gipalpura in Faridkot in Pakistan who spoke fluent English.
Azam and the other militant opened fire at CST and then created havoc in metro. They then moved to Girgaum Chowpatty in a stolen Skoda but caught by a team from the Gamdevi police station. Azam shot dead assistant police inspector Tukaram Umbale.
During all this his other militant died and Azam himself was injured in the hand. But this Azam was so brilliant and acted as though he was dead, but when taken to the Nair hospital, doctors came to know that he was alive. While the doctors were giving him aid - “I do not want to die,” he reportedly said. “Please put me on saline.”
So what all he said about the Mumbai attack is very important as he was the only vital person for the Intelligence to enquire. Firstly, Ammunition, a satellite phone and a layout plan of CST was recovered from him.
He said the chief person who planned the attack had come to Mumbai one month before, took pictures, filmed places told them all the details. They were trained about the places and the navigations and were told to kill people till their last breath.
Every militant was given six to seven magazines with fifty bullets each, eight hand grenades per terrorist with one AK-57, an automatic loading revolver and a supply of dry fruits.
Well there have been questions and doubts about who they were either Indians or Pakistanis. But he said all his colleagues were Pakistanis and that they left Karachi in a boat and then from there reached Gujarat where they hoisted a white flag and near Porbandar took a fishing boat where they killed 4 fishermen and had the help of one coast guard. Now this boat is Kuber PBR 2302 which is being searched intensively to get more details. This boat belongs to Porbandar resident, Vinod Masani, and his brothers Vinod and Narsinh. They are being investigated now and found that the boat was fitted with high-end communication equipment, including GPRS wireless modem and a radio frequency communicator. It also has a powerful engine. Well they still dont know if it was hijacked. This coast guard helped them with food and water and when they were four nautical miles away from Mumbai, there were three speedboats waiting for them and so tied the coastguard officers hands and eyes and slit his throat. After that they split into groups and went on with their mission of destroying Mumbai.
Azam confessed to being a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, but they deny the link. Why did u aim at Taj ??
Well Azam reported that they wanted to have a India 9/11 and wanted it to be like the one that happened in JW Marriott in Pakistan. "They wanted to reduce the symbols of economic strength to rubble, the Taj and Trident, so they cannot be rebuilt," . All these were reported by Times Now.
So this was their aim and that is why they tried to throw grenades everywhere and fire every place. They were really well trained and new the topography of the place very well. They had studied it so well and that is why knew all the entries and exits. The NSG said they were equally battling with them and tried to distract them always when ever they came near. So they just came to kill people and nothing else was their aim. Why?? Why kill humans after all when you are a human. What did they do to you.?? That is all we can ask.
The death toll has been increasing and is almost reaching 200 and the around 330 people injured. This is what has happened in all these 3 days in Mumbai.

He heard the gunfire erupt and ran towards the terminus. "I ran into the first carriage of one of the trains on the platform to try and get a shot but couldn't get a good angle, so I moved to the second carriage and waited for the gunmen to walk by," he said. "They were shooting from waist height and fired at anything that moved. I briefly had time to take a couple of frames using a telephoto lens. I think they saw me taking photographs but theydidn't seem to care."
By the time he managed to capture the killer on camera, Mr D'Souza had already seen two gunmen calmly stroll across the station concourse shooting both civilians and policemen, many of whom, he said, were armed but did not fire back. "I first saw the gunmen outside the station," Mr D'Souza said. "With their rucksacks and Western clothes they looked like backpackers, not terrorists, but they were very heavily armed and clearly knew how to use their rifles.

Black friday not only had discounts but also deaths !!

Well Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving is the traditional start of the holiday shopping season, which for years has influenced retail revenues to go from the red into the black. But this year, the enthusiasm was not there much, I guess. Why?? Well there could be many reasons for it. Usually u would find long lines of bargain hunters, waiting in the cold for the early-morning special discounts of as much as 60 percent by stores.
By 5 a.m., the crowd at Target was growing by the minute until the store opened an hour later while at Circuit City, shoppers were allowed into the store in groups of 75. Alexandria Police reported no major problems as the shoppers filled the city's stores to hunt for the best deals. But then Nationwide, there were deaths due to Black Friday shopping reported in New York and California. Usually stampedes happen and the crowd gets really crazy.
In Long Island, New York, a 34-year-old WalMart employee of the Valley Stream store was trampled to death by 200 crazed stampeding shoppers during Black Friday rush, as they rushed into the store at 5:00 am. They just thrashed inside opening the doors and creating chaos and injuring three other people in the stampede in order to cash in on special Black Friday deals.
A Nassau County police spokesman says it was “utter chaos.” One woman said shoppers were acting like “savages.” Other witnesses say even as the man lay gasping for air on the ground, shoppers streamed into the store, stepping over him and went on with their shopping spree.
Police say dozens of store employees who tried to help the man were also trampled by the crowd. “He was bum-rushed by 200 people, said co-worker Jimmy Overby. “He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too…I literally had to fight people off my back.”. A 28-year-old pregnant woman was knocked to the floor during the crazed Black Friday rush, but police report both mother and baby are doing fine despite early accounts that the woman had miscarried. She was hospitalized for observation, police said.
As emergency crews worked feverishly to save the unidentified store employee’s life, frenzied shoppers streamed right on past until police shut down the store. “They were working on him, but you could see he was dead. People were still coming through”. Only a few shoppers stopped. All this happened in Walmart in New york.
Two men pulled guns and shot each other to death in a crowded toy store Friday after the women with them erupted into a bloody brawl, witnesses said. Scared shoppers fled but no one else was hurt.
Another incident that happened was a shooting in Toys R Us. Two people died in a Black Friday shooting at a crowded Toys "R" Us in Palm Desert, california. City Councilman Jim Ferguson says police told that the victims were two men with handguns who shot each other.
They still do not know if it was gang related or if they were really shoppers. But y would u carry a gun if u r shopping. A manager at a gym across the street says people rushed in crying and shaking. People heard all the commotion and were really scared and thought may be it was only shouting for scramble for a sale.
Surveillance video is being reviewed for possible criminal charges. But police say it could be hard to identify individual shoppers.

But she's slashing her holiday budget to about $1,000 this year from about $2,500 in past years because of economic worries.
This year ofcourse u cannot find everyone waiting in the line to buy and bargain stuff as most of them have been hit by the crisis happening. So would not be a great holiday season, I think. Burke, 37, earns her celebrity status mostly from hosting TV shows, including the E! network's "Wild On" and CBS' "Rock Star." Her win breaks a string of four straight titles by athletes, with ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi the winner during the season that aired in the spring. Two of the original 13 contestants this season were Orange County natives, both of them graduates of Newport Harbor High School.
"This journey’s been so long and tough and wonderful—I can’t believe we actually did it," Brooke’s 23-year-old professional partner Derek Hough said.

When he was giving his victory speech addressing a crowd in Grant Park,Chicago dominated by young voters,he spoke about change, using a 106-year-old woman as his example. In Atlanta, Ann Nixon Cooper "touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change," Obama told the crowd estimated at 125,000.
Little about her : Ann Louise Nixon Cooper was born on January 9, 1902 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, where she attended school. After the death of their mother, she and her six siblings were separated and an aunt raised Cooper. In 1922, Ann Nixon married Albert Berry Cooper, a young dentist in Nashville, Tennessee. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where they started a family while her husband established his highly successful dental practice. Cooper has been a homemaker for most of her life, working briefly in 1923 as a policy writer for the Atlanta Life Insurance Company. Cooper and her husband counted as their friends or acquaintances such luminaries as educators W.E.B. Du Bois, Lugenia Burns Hope and John Hope Franklin, Benjamin E. Mays and E. Franklin Frazier.
The African-American centenarian remembers a time not long ago when she was barred from voting because of her race. Now she hopes to see the day that Obama is elected as the nation’s first black president.
“I ain’t got time to die,” Cooper said with a smile.
“Even if he didn’t win, I was happy for him just to be nominated,” said the former socialite. “The first black president — isn’t that something, at 106 years old?”

Barack Obama wins in Dixville Notch - A landslide victory !!

So US elections 2008 has come to the final battle - Obama vs McCain. Now the town, which has a 60-year tradition of being first in the nation to vote, opened its polls at midnight, with turnout of 100%. In a practice that stretched back to 1948, Dixville Notch's 21 registered voters cast their ballots in the 10 minutes after midnight. The 2008 vote was the first time the town had voted Democrat for 40 years. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama today won in the first election returns of the 2008 presidential race, winning 15 of 21 votes cast in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire.
It was the first time since 1968 that the village leaned Democratic in an election.
Obama won 17 votes in Hart’s Location as compared to 10 won by John McCain. Ron Paul won two votes there. The voting was held in Dixville Notch and Hart’s Location just after midnight and results came shortly after the voting process was over. In total, 115 people cast their ballots in both towns.

I just cannot believe how people love to start rumours about a person's death. Well cmon guys Lil Wayne is not dead. Contrary to reports that he was shot and found dead, the 26-year-old rapper is alive and well. The rumour was that Lil’ Wayne, who is also known as Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. in real life, was killed from a gun shot over the weekend in a gang feud.
On the other hand, Perez Hilton says Lil Wayne was not shot and killed, cautioning people “not to believe everything that you read. The report is one of many in a long line of replicas made to look like, in this case, BBC News."
There was also another nasty rumor that comedian Katt Williams, who is credited for The Boondocks and The Tracy Morgan Show, died in plane crash this weekend. Of course, this is also not true.

Portland Oregon based Cyrus Sullivan is behind the site STDCarriers.com, a site dedicated to nothing more than outing those suffering from STDs.
Sullivan’s hatred comes from the fact that he himself was infected with Herpes by a woman who didn’t disclose the fact upfront. The first person named on his list is the girl who infected him, including full name and even a picture. The rest of the site so far only lists celebrities who are publicly known to have STDs, but he’s asking others to submit names to the site.
According to local media reports, the site isn’t being well received in Portland, with a number of people quoted against what Cyrus Sullivan is trying to do, primarily on the basis that any names listed could be false, and the outing of people falsely may be devestating to reputations in an online age.

Washington Mutual was in a pretty bad shape. But now JPMorgan Chase & Co. Inc. has bought Washington Mutual Inc. buying the thrift's banking assets after WaMu was seized by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in the largest failure ever of a U.S. bank. This is the second time in six months that JPMorgan Chase has taken over a major financial institution crippled by bad bets in the mortgage market.
Under the terms of the deal, J.P. Morgan acquired all of the deposits and assets of Washington Mutual, and its subsidiary Washington Mutual FSB, valued at $307 billion in assets and $188 billion in deposits.
The sale marks the entry of J.P. Morgan into metro Atlanta, gaining 69 branches and $750 million in deposits, instantly making it the 11th largest bank in metro Atlanta.
The FDIC, which insures bank deposits, said it would not have to dip into the insurance fund as a result of the seizure. There had been concerns that the fund, which took a big hit after the seizure of IndyMac Bank, could be depleted by a WaMu seizure.

'Heroes' is back with Season 3 !!

Remember 'Heroes'. Well it is back again.!!!
When the Writers Guild of America went on strike last November, one of its immediate casualties was NBC’s comic-book- inspired drama “Heroes,” which was in its second season of its tale of ordinary people who develop superpowers. So the show was shut after 11 episodes.
Writing resumed in early spring, as soon as the strike ended, and the show went back into production in May.
The new season will be broken into two volumes: the 13- episode “Villains,” followed by the 12-episode “Fugitives.” The season starts at 8 p. m. Monday with a special, followed by the two-hour season premiere.

So now Morgan Stanley has elected to be deemed a financial holding company under the Bank Holding Company Act. Morgan Stanley sought this new status from the Federal Reserve to provide the Firm maximum flexibility and stability to pursue new business opportunities as the financial marketplace undergoes rapid and profound changes. The Firm will pursue initiatives to expand the retail banking services it offers its retail clients and build a stable base of core deposits. Morgan Stanley has more than 3 million retail accounts and had $36 billion in bank deposits as of August 31, 2008.
The Firm's status as a Federal Bank Holding Company also provides Morgan Stanley ongoing access to the Federal Reserve Bank Discount Window and expanded opportunities for funding.
John J. Mack, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, "This new bank holding structure will ensure that Morgan Stanley is in the strongest possible position -- with the stability and flexibility to seize opportunities in the rapidly changing financial marketplace. Engineer's day !! Have u ever heard about this day. Well if u dint know, today is Sep 15th Engineer's day in India!! It is the birthday of Sir M. Visvesvarayya, an eminent Indian engineer and statesman. Do u remember Krishna raja sagar dam, well he served as the chief engineer during construction of that Dam on the Kaveri River near Mysore. He also built many dams in the Bombay presidency (present day Maharashtra). The dams built by him are still there even today, unlike the new ones and this really marks a testimony to his brilliance, skill, honesty and dedication.

There has been ups and downs in the financial market, but this time it has hit hard.
One of the world's biggest investment banks, Lehman Brothers, overwhelmed by debts linked to the global credit crisis, is now filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States. That is bad news esp. for the ones working there. Cant imagine such a scenario where everyone has to pack and leave.
The situation looked bleak for Lehman Brothers and bankruptcy seemed to be on the very near horizon unless a buyer came in to rescue.The were also told that there would be no government rescue or bail out and take over or any sort of significant government intervention other than finding a suitable buyer for Lehman, and expediting the buy out process. So at last there was no potential buyer for Lehman.
At the same time, Merrill Lynch, has been sold in a $29 a share deal to Bank of America, as they feared that they would be the next.The Australian share market has fallen sharply as a result of the financial turmoil.
So now the US Federal Reserve is trying to hold emergency meetings with the heads of the world's major investment banks. Ten giant banks have set up a $US70 billion fund to try to stabilise the markets, while the US central bank is taking unprecedented steps to maintain liquidity.
But they fear of a big consequence after Lehman Brother's fall and this might lead to a big change in the market.

Barack Obama appeared on the “Late Show” with David Letterman in New York on Wednesday and this was a pretty interesting show. Firstly he had to clarify about the “pig” remark some took as a slam against Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. “It’s a common expression at least in Illinois,” Obama said, “I don’t know about New York City, I don’t know where you guys put lipstick on here.”
"This is sort of silly season in politics, not that there is a non-silly season in politics, but in Illinois the expression connotes that if you have a bad idea -- in this case I was talking about John McCain's economic plans -- that just calling them change, calling it something different, doesn't make it better. Hence, lipstick on a pig is still a pig," Obama said.
Of Palin, Obama told Letterman: "There is no doubt that she's been a phenomenon, as somebody who used to be on the cover of Time and Newsweek ... those were the days," he said with mock sadness. "She's on a wild ride and there's no doubt that she's energized the base."

HE has done it again !! Roger Federer won his 13th Grand Slam title and fifth consecutive US Open title defeating British sixth seed Andy Murray 6-2, 7-5, 6-2. Swiss second seed Federer stretched his US Open match win streak to 34, his last loss at Flushing Meadows coming to David Nalbandian in the fourth round of 2003, and took home the top prize of 1.5 million dollars.
He dropped to the floor at the end of a fabulous exchange in celebration of his fifth consecutive US Open. Andy Murray tried hard, though. It was Federer's 13th major singles title, one away from Pete Sampras's record.
After losing this year's Wimbledon and French Open finals and his number one ranking to Spain's Rafael Nadal, Federer's was really not in the spotlight but his victory on Monday served notice he still remains a force in the sport.
Federer became the first man to win five Slams in a row at two different events, having also completed the feat last year at Wimbledon. No one had won five US titles in a row since Bill Tilden in 1924.
Now Murray joined a victims list for Federer in US Open finals that also includes Australian Lleyton Hewitt in 2004, Americans Andre Agassi in 2005 and Andy Roddick in 2006 and Serbian Novak Djokovic last year.

Well Usain Bolt of Jamaica did a great job and became the fastest man by winning the 100m race in the Olympics with a record speed of 9.69secs and getting the gold medal. Now the next was 200m race. He again has broken the very old world record of Michael Johnson. He ran in 19.30 secs as against Michael's 19.32sec. So he is the first man to win both the Olympic 100 and 200m since Carl Lewis did so in 1984.
Churandy Martina of Netherlands Antilles and Wallace Spearmon of the United States were disqualified after finishing second and third.Spearmon was the first to be ruled out and Martina followed him, both for stepping out of their lanes on the turn as they chased eventual winner Usain Bolt. SO now both are disqualified and defending champion Shawn Crawford of the U.S. is the second and compatriot Walter Dix took third to match his bronze in the 100m final.
“It feels kind of weird, it feels like a charity case,” Crawford told reporters. “It’s horrible, it is heart-breaking and I feel his (Spearmon’s) pain right now. I hope Usain (Bolt) stepped out too because… that’s a gold medal for me.”
After the disqualifications, Bolt’s margin of victory increased to over half of a second, an almost unheard of figure in sprinting events.

Well one of the best was the 100m race where Usain Bolt of Jamaica, who is new to the race made a new world record of running in just 9.69 seconds. Waw can u ever imagine doing that. It was amazing and his golden shoes were the highlights. On Saturday in the final of the Olympic 100 meters, Bolt gapped the field, looking around through the final 30 meters, high-stepping through the final 10 and lowering his own world record to 9.69 seconds, .03 better than the mark he set in May. Then, after securing his first Olympic gold medal, he barely slowed down until he rounded the curve and hit the backstraight for some dancing and handshakes with some of his fans in the crowd.
"It wasn't planned," the new "World's Fastest Man" told the Associated Press. "My aim was to come out and win. When I saw the time, I'm celebrating. I'm happy." It was a great moment for both Bolt and Jamaica. For all the great sprinters the Caribbean island has produced, no Olympic 100 champion has ever worn the Jamaican colors. Natives Linford Christie and Donovan Bailey won gold medals for Great Britain in '92 and Canada in '96, respectively. So now Usain Bolt is the 'fastest man in the earth' 'fastest man in the world'.

World's tallest woman Sandy Allen dies at 53 !!

Sandy Allen spent her life overcoming the physical and social barriers that came with being the world's tallest woman. Born with a tumor on her pituitary gland, she reached 7 feet, 7 1/4 inches. But on Wednesday, she lost her fight against illness at age 53. Allen died just before 3 a.m. at Heritage House Convalescent Center, where she spent the last few years of her life. She will be buried in a custom-made casket that will occupy four burial plots. Her remarkable height brought her ridicule, financial and health struggles, and unwanted stares, but Allen used her condition to teach others the importance of acceptance. "She always accepted her position in life as God put her here for some reason," said John Kleiman, Allen's longtime friend and former agent. "She was going to do what she could to live that."
Allen was born a normal-sized baby in Chicago, but the tumor caused an excessive release of growth hormones, said Rita Rose, another close friend who authored a book on Allen's high school years.Her mother left her for her grandmother to raise, and Allen never knew her father, Rose said. She grew up in Shelbyville, and by age 10, she stood more than 6 feet tall.By the time she started at Shelbyville High School, Allen's height surpassed 7 feet. Her classmates rejected her.
Allen graduated and eventually accepted a state job, where her desk had to be lifted on cement blocks so her legs could fit underneath.In 1975, Guinness World Records named her the world's tallest woman. The distinction changed her life.
The once-shy woman became accustomed to interacting with the public and making speaking appearances. She learned to make jokes about herself to get others to open up to her. She even donned T-shirts with messages such as "I'm with shorty" to appear more approachable. Her height also made her a celebrity. She appeared in Federico Fellini's "Casanova" and on talk shows including "Oprah" and "The Howard Stern Show."
Her size, though, posed inconveniences and made her health and financial stability a continual challenge. Allen had to ride in a full-sized van. In hotels, rooms had to have extra-firm mattresses to support her 400-pound frame. Allen's height made it harder for her to take care of herself.
She had fought diabetes, low blood pressure and infections over the years. For about the past 10 years, she required the use of a wheelchair. In January, Allen's health again started to decline. She was suffering from kidney and blood infections, said Linda Fox, a friend and caretaker, and in June, Allen was hospitalized.
On Tuesday, Rose set up a scholarship for Shelbyville High School students in her friend's honor. Rose remembers clearly what Allen told her when she mentioned the scholarship. "She said, 'Now I can have a legacy about something other than being tall.' "

Bigfoot body 'found and put in freezer'

TWO US professional Bigfoot hunters claim to have found a body of the legendary creature and will present evidence of the astounding discovery to the world's press and scientists tomorrow. Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, who run Bigfoot expeditions, say they found a dead Bigfoot in the woods of north Georgia, in the southeast of the US, about two weeks ago and have put the carcass in a freezer. They along with "the real Bigfoot Hunter" Tom Biscardi, who has endorsed the find, will front a press conference in California, where they say DNA and photo proof will be presented.
Mr Whitton, a Georgia police officer on leave to recover from a shooting, and Mr Dyer, a former prison officer, have posted photos of their "find" on their searchingforbigfoot website. They describe the creature as being a 2.3m tall "part human and part ape" male and weighing over 230kg with reddish hair and blackish-grey eyes. The infamous feet are described as being flat and 41cm long with five toes.
The hands also have five fingers and and the teeth are more "human-like than ape like". The hunters claim several Bigfoots were spotted walking upright in the area the body was found but won't reveal the location "to protect the creatures".
Mr Whitton, Mr Dyer and Mr Biscardi say they will soon mount a secret expedition to capture a live Bigfoot. Commenting on the discovery Scientific American said the apparent reluctance of the Bigfoot hunters to actually display or hand over the body would make those sceptical roll their eyes.
Although many would regard the Bigfoot as mythical, enthusiasts were given more reason to believe in October last year when hunter Rick Jacobs claimed to have taken photos of a Bigfoot in Pennsylvania.The Bigfoot stir coincides with a supposed Texas sighting and filming of another legendary US monster, the chupacabra, which is a dog-like animal with a long snout that according to folklore attacks livestock, especially goats, and drinks their blood. It seems to be a monster summer in the US with an unidentifed creature creating an internet sensation after it washed up near New York last month.
Bigfoot's erstwhile cousin, the yeti or Abominable Snowman, also came under renewed scrutiny last month with a scientist sending some alleged hair from the creature to a lab for DNA testing.

The rare, blood-sucking, elusive creature called the Chupacabra may have been spotted in Texas - and caught on video camera! First we had the dead Monster of Montauk, then Bigfoot and now the Chupacabra has been spotted. Some say it's a dog, some say it's a coyote - but is there a possibility that the creature caught on a dashboard camera is a Chupacabra? Cpl. Brandol Reidel was on patrol with his partner in Dewitt County, TX, when they saw something an animal they'd never seen before. The Chupacabra, or "goat sucker", is an animal said to be unknown to science. The Chupacabra is said to hunt and kill animals in places like Puerto Rico, Miami and Mexico. The Chupacabra is commonly described as a reptile-like creature with scaly gray skin and sharp quills along its back. The Chupacabra 'spotted' in TX, however, fits a different description that is seen less often. It is said to look like a strange dog with little hair, big teeth, claws and pronounced eye sockets.

There is one swimmer who, day after day, swim after swim, seems intent on turning this meet into his personal five-ring showcase.That is Michael Phelps from the US, 23 yrs.
Michael Phelps won his fifth Olympic gold medal today the Wednesday Aug 13th,swimming the leadoff leg of the 4 x 200m 800-meter freestyle relay and helping the United States smash the old world record by 4.68 seconds. Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Ricky Berens and Peter Vanderkaay led the entire race, winning in 6 minutes, 58.56 seconds. That bettered the old mark of 7:03.24 set by the U.S. at last year’s world championships in Australia. Phelps earned his 11th career gold medal and second of the day. About an hour earlier, he won the 200 butterfly. He is 5-for-5 with world records in each of his events. Russia took the silver in 7:03.70. Australia earned the bronze in 7:04.98.
His first gold medal for 2008 Olympics was for men's 400 individual medley.in a world-record time of 4 minutes, 3.84 seconds. With President George W. Bush, first lady Laura Bush and daughter, Barbara, looking on, the American swimming phenom ran away from the rest of the pool of swimmers. Ryan Lochte took the bronze for the U.S. team. Laszlo Cseh, of Hungary, rallied to take the silver medal in 4:06.16, while Lochte came in at 4:08.09.
The second gold medal came for 4x100m freestyle relay. Jason Lezak put together an incredible 100-meter rally to send the U.S. to victory in the 400 freestyle relay. Phelps swam the leadoff leg of the race, but France pulled out in front and seemed to have the race in control until Lezak touched water. Lezak made his push over the final 50 meters and snatched gold away from the French as the Americans shaved nearly four seconds off the world record they set in the preliminaries.
The third gold medal was for 200-meter freestyle, in a world-record time of 1:42.96.
The fourth gold medal was for 200 m butterfly. Cseh won silver behind Phelps for the second time here after also finishing second to the American's first gold medal swim in the 400 IM on Sunday. "We're thinking this is our last season," she said, explaining that she's been working on the program longer than most people realize. Just 11 when it began, she will turn 16 in November and seems willing to quit while she's ahead.
We start production on the third season of 'Hannah Montana' on August 4 and have an option for a fourth season beyond that. Sachin Tendulkar to debut in Bollywood movie !!

Well its kinda a gr8 news, I am sure. Everyone is into films nowadays. Next in the screen would be Sachin Tendulkar. He will make his Bollywood debut with a cameo role in a film about the miracles of the elephant-headed deity Ganesh. He is my favourite and I will surely be watching this movie. World's best batsmen will play himself in "Vighnaharta Shri Siddhivinayak," a film about the god, who is sometimes referred to as Siddhivinayak. "He will play a small role, as himself, either in a song sequence or in an actual scene," said Rajiv Sanghvi, whose company is handling the film’s production. Tendulkar’s office confirmed the cricketer would be shooting for the film after he returns from Sri Lanka where India is touring at the moment. Tendulkar, a devotee of Ganesh, had offered to be a part of the project and will not be charging for the role, Sanghvi said. The film is being produced by the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust, which looks after a famous temple dedicated to Ganesh in Mumbai. "Sachin has been a regular at the temple for many years now and he never gives up an opportunity to show his devotion," said Subhash Mayekar, chairman of the trust. "Vighnaharta Shri Siddhivinayak" is due to begin shooting next month, and will also feature a voice-over by Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan.

HGTV Design Stars show competition is now down to the final two. The finale of HGTV Design Stars is in New Orleans. Their final challenge is to design a kitchen, dining room and living room for two families who lost nearly everything in during hurricane Katrina. To pull on our heartstrings all the more, one family is headed by a fireman and the other a police officer.

They have:
36 hours over 4 days, which was broken up as follows:
Day 1 – 8 hours with 1 carpenter
Day 2 – 12 hours with 3 carpenters; plus Mikey and Trish show up to help. Matt selects Trish to help with paint and therefor leaves Mikey to Jennifer to help her to with installing a kitchen.
Day 3 – 12 hours with 3 carpenters and Trish and Mikey switch designers.
Day 4 – 4 hours with no help

Budget: $20,000
Sears – kitchen appliances
Lumber Liquidators – flooring

So Kuselan is up soon, waiting to hit the screens. So r u ready for it !! Well there was quite a lot of confusion I guess regarding the release dates. But now it has been decided for July 31st. So friends hear it - Kuselan releases on July 31st 2008 !!
Finally P Vasu's film Kuselan has been censored and awarded a clean U by the Regional Censor Board. The Tamil remake of the Malayalam super hit Katha Parayumbol will be released worldwide with highest number of prints for abroad. Well they say the film is a neat family entertainer with a must needed message for Today.
"Kuselan" has finally got the go ahead for its simultaneous release in Karnataka on Aug 1, though many groups were against it, alleging that the Tamil superstar had made "anti-Kannadiga" statements.
If Kamal Haasan appeared with 10 avatars in Dasavatharam, superstar will overbeat him in 20 different roles… There is a song in the movie where Rajnikanth shakes his legs with Nayanthara with 20 different get-ups. This will have all the get-ups that Rajnikanth had in his best yesteryear flicks. This tale may somewhat reflect the real life incidents of superstar Rajnikanth. Bailey Hanks is winner of Legally Blonde The Musical !!

Bailey Hanks has been named the winner of the MTV reality casting competition, "Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods." Hanks, who beat out nine other contestants to succeed Tony nominee Laura Bell Bundy as Elle Woods in the New York production of Legally Blonde, will make her Broadway debut in the musical based on the film of the same name July 23 at 8 PM.
Ghostlight records will also release Hanks' single version of Legally Blonde's first-act closer, "So Much Better," on iTunes beginning July 22. A single version will also be available on Ghostlight's official website. Hanks was named the winner of the pre-taped series at a private taping on the stage of the Palace Theatre March 18. Legally Blonde's original Elle Woods, Laura Bell Bundy, played her final performance in the pop tuner June 20. Finalists Autumn Hurlbert, Rhiannon Hansen and Lauren Zakrin have all been cast in either the Broadway production or the first national tour of the musical, which launches in Providence, RI, Sept. 23. Hurlbert, the first runner-up in the competition, will understudy the role of Elle Woods on Broadway and will perform in the ensemble. Zakrin, the youngest contestant on the reality show, will understudy the tour's Elle Woods, Becky Gulsvig, and will also be a member of the ensemble. And, Hansen will play the role of Margot, Elle's best friend, on tour.
Bailey Hanks, a Nashville, TN native, is a musical theatre student at Coastal Carolina University. Among her previous stage credits are The Wizard of Oz, Seussical the Musical, A Year With Frog and Toad, Annie and Bye Bye Birdie.
Bailey Hanks was selected by a team including Legally Blonde director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, casting director Bernard Telsey, Legally Blonde book writer Heather Hach, associate director Marc Bruni and associate choreographer Denis Jones.
Seth Rudetsky served as musical director and vocal coach for the series, which included special appearances from Legally Blonde cast members Paul Canaan (one of the three judges), Nikki Snelson (Brooke Wyndham), Orfeh (Paulette), Richard H. Blake (Warner) and the musical's Tony-nominated star, Laura Bell Bundy.
